San Juan Worm
$2.50
Don’t let spring run-off or stained water keep you from fishing! A San Juan worm is a proven pattern that catches fish during the height of spring run-off when the flow is high & dirty. It is also a good pattern to have in the event of a heavy afternoon rain shower or a sudden change in discharge rates when fishing on your favorite tailwater. A brown San Juan worm will typically fish well year-round, but for off-colored water, a pink San Juan Worm seems to always produce.

Fishing Strategies
Aquatic worms play an important role in a trout’s diet on many rivers, so it is key to carry a few in your box. We fish a San Juan worm under a yarn indicator typically with droppers underneath. The fly looks very natural in the water with the Ultra Chenille. In this pattern, our favorite colors are pink and brown. We believe it is one of the most successful flies to fish throughout both western and eastern tailwaters when high flows create off-color water.
