The CDC Biot Comparadun is a simple, yet durable design to imitate adult mayflies.  With very few materials the fly floats well and has fooled countless amount of picky tailwater trout across the west.  The CDC Biot Comparadun is one of our favorite Blue Winged Olive imitations.  Additionally, we offer Pale Morning Duns in sizes 18-20 and Tricos down to 22-24 to match the hatches that occur throughout the western United States.

Description

The CDC Biot Comparadun is a simple, yet durable design to imitate adult mayflies.  With very few materials the fly floats well and has fooled countless amount of picky tailwater trout across the west.  The CDC Biot Comparadun is one of our favorite Blue Winged Olive imitations.  Additionally, we offer Tricos down to 22-24 to match the hatches that occur throughout the western United States. The CDC Biot Comparadun is our favorite Trico imitation at Tailwater Junkie, as it imitates all stages of Tricos (dun, spinner, and drown spinner).

Fishing Strategies:

It is very important to have some CDC Biot Comparaduns in your fly box for finicky trout. It is high floating and rides low in the film.  This is a must-have pattern for tailwaters and spring creeks through April to June and then again in September and October.  These seasons can provide technical, humbling and rewarding dry fly fishing.  Typically fish our CDC Biot Comparaduns with 9-foot leaders terminating in 6 or 7X tippet.  It is very important to watch your drag closely when fishing flies this small.  If you are getting refusals, think about dropping your tippet down a size.  For Tricos, some of the most reliable Trico hatches are found in Elevenmile Canyon, Cheesman Canyon, Deckers, Gunnison, Colorado, and Williams Fork rivers.
